Date Night

Date Night

With the rise of UX/UI in the graphic design workplace, this project tasked us with creating an app that comes with its own icons, a map, and reviews

I chose to create an app that would coexist alongside the many dating apps and instead of providing matches, it would provide date ideas for those who already have a date ready. This app tells you what places in San Diego are great for dates and what to do on those dates, going as far as telling you the different places to eat, drink alcohol, and engage in fun activities. It also comes with a map and review system so that you can read what feedback others have about the place.

This is my first go at UI/UX and I honestly think it came out pretty well.

The first obstacle to face is how the app should cater to its audience. I created three personas of different people that may use this app and using these personas, I thought of the different activities someone would want to know about if they were going on a date, for example Angela would want a romantic date while Richard may want to drink at a bar.

After coming up with the personas, it was time to create the overall feel of the app. I went with a hand drawn style so that the user feels like the app is genuine. I chose colors such as pink to represent hearts and love and green to contrast with the pink and give a peaceful feeling. I used Giulia as the header font because I wanted a hand drawn-like font and Helvetica bold for any text for ease of readability.

In the wireframe I created three main pages: the map, the reviews, and the date planner. These three all work together and link to one another at some point so that no matter what you do, you will end up with a date plan, regardless of where you tapped. There is a fourth page for date tips that is a bonus alongside the main three features.
