How to Drive a Car

Overview:

The task was to tell a story and explain how to do a task using the format of a six-step guide. I chose a guide on "how to drive a car" because I love automobiles and my initial idea of "how to drive a manual car" led to less comedic value. With this choice I could tell a story with the car ending up in a crash.

Research and Brainstorming:

After figuring out what kind of guide I wanted to make, I needed to come up with a style and with the six different panels I thought of a comic book style with inspiration from Roy Lichtenstein.

Design Process:

I started off with hand drawn sketches and putting them into InDesign. After not being satisfied, I honed in on the comic book aesthetic with lines and half tones and finally added text boxes.
